GAA with a Twist.
On the 14th of December, our TY Year set stage our musical, GAA with a Twist. It was a very long process, taking up all our time. From dancing the jive to singing many young men of twenty, it was a whirlwind of a night, that I will never forget. My parts in the show were, Sandy in Grease, Seeile in Many Young Men of Twenty and a ceoil singer in the Ceili, Irish Dance.
I was excited when I got the part of Sandy, as the musical Grease, has its place in my heart. Through many mornings of waking up early to warm up, to trying to remember dances, it all fell into place the night of the show. The worst part of it all was defiantly the costumes. Trying to find the same coloured cardigan as my dress was a struggle, as well as trying to dance in high heels.
Every evening, I went home to practice the same song, and now every time I hear it, I want to vomit! I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to sing the song fulltime. I was really happy with how it all turned out, even though Sandy is blonde, I feel I did an okay job on playing her brunette! Being on stage is honestly one of my favourite things as I practically grew up on it. The exhilarating feeling is the best and it was defiantly there that night. I would recommend anyone to do it. Its an amazing experience and I wish I could of done it all over again.
